Pronunciation

Thin is not pronounced as the English spelling suggests. The ‘th’ in Thin is not as soft as the ‘th’ we hear in the word ‘think’. Thin is pronounced with the tongue just behind the front teeth to make a hard ‘th’ sound or a soft ‘t’ sound.

The vowel sound in Thin is spoken with a short ‘i’ vowel as in the word imp.

Thin is not to be confused with Tin. The two sound very similar to English speakers but the difference is important.

To play the sound

Thin is performed by playing a Tin with the right hand and a Ka with the left hand.
